FLIP/Professional Development
Teacher workshops connected to Flip residencies and Flip books,
can be scheduled during common preps, after-school or on professional
development days linked to literacy, author studies or art.
Angelo DeCesare will offer hands-on workshops that have all
participants creating either cartoons or puppets with ease.
While we can design PD workshops on a variety of topics, here are a few suggestions:

Using Cartooning & Puppetry in the Classroom - adding these techniques to your classroom units provides a dimension that enriches the learning experience and helps children to relate the lessons to their lives.

Create a New Flip Character Unique to Your School - The Flip family of characters is fun and familiar to students, as they proceed through a residency; this is an opportunity to add a new character whom they will name and for whom they will develop a personality to match their own classroom.

Link a School-Specific Issue to a Flip Character - We have a new anger management program, which could be the basis for a PD session. However, there may be an issue specific to your school that would be ideally addressed through the use of Flip characters. Arrange for a PD workshop to focus on this topic.
